There are certain stroke symptoms that occur in both men and women.  You should be aware of these even if you do not feel you are someone who is going to suffer from a stroke.  Just to be safe, learn these so that you can determine if you or someone you know is suffering from a stroke.

  • Sudden numbness, paralysis, or weakness in your face, arm, or leg, especially on only one side of your body.
  • New problems with walking or balance.
  • Sudden vision changes.
  • Drooling or slurred speech.
  • New problems speaking or understanding simple statements, or feeling confused.
  • A sudden, severe headache that is different from past headaches.

Symptoms vary depending of the type of stroke, and the symptoms listed are just general symptoms.  Symptoms can change, however, depending on the extent of brain damage.
